Fencing Weekend 2026

In 2025, we will once again organise a weekend featuring two tournaments, exciting seminars, and plenty of space for free fencing and meeting with fellow HEMAists.

Saturday

Johann-Georg-Pascha Tournament (Longsword Open, 24 places, WAITLIST ACTIVE)

The JGPT is a classic longsword tournament conducted according to the Swiss system. Assistant referees will be recruited from the participant pool as needed, depending on availability. For participants from previous years, please note: from this year onwards, legs are also considered a valid target area!

Evening Event

In the evening, we would like to spend time with you over food and drink in a friendly atmosphere (refreshments are not included in the participation fee).

Sunday

Mix&Match Tournament (various weapon types, rule changes by fencers, 15 Places, WAITLIST ACTIVE)

The Mix&Match tournament is our fun format, where fencers agree before each bout on which weapons they wish to use and whether they want to establish special rules (e.g., only arms and head as target areas, only hits with the short edge, etc.). The referee has the right to veto, and certain basic rules cannot be overridden. If plastic wasters are used, participants may compete with less equipment, making this tournament suitable for beginners to try out.

Seminars

On Sunday morning, there will be a seminar block with parallel seminars. Currently planned are:

• Fencing with the staff according to Andre Paurñfeyndt
• Practice and theory of Polish cross-cutting based on (hardly any) historical sources

If you have your own training equipment for the seminars, please bring it along. We have a limited number of loaner equipment available.

On both days

Free Fencing Area

Throughout the event, there will be an area for free fencing where participants can spar and have fun. We are also planning a small area for cutting tests.

After submitting the registration form, no automatic response will be sent. We will contact you promptly to confirm your registration.

Cancellation Policy

• You can cancel your participation up to 30 days before the event starts and will receive a refund of your participation fee.
• If you cancel up to 14 days before the event starts, you will receive a 50% refund of your participation fee.
• No refunds will be issued for cancellations made later than this!
